metamusic03pic.jpg

We had a packed out Sim yesterday for Metamusic 03. I lost count of how many people turned up in the end, but eventually the sim gave up and crashed.

This week we concentrated on the recent developments in the world of media streaming in Second Life, tried out a few different media streaming technologies and generally tried to stay away from inflaming any kind of “format war” and think about the creative possibilites – something that would for any discussion on this thread ;)

There was some confusion at the start ( it was my fault I left out numerous types of media devices all over the place). But once that was cleared up, everyone seemed to get things working fine.

The event was brilliantly captured in some great pics by JenzZa Misfit here :

Here is the chat log from the event :

[2007/10/21 12:15] Dizzy Banjo: this week has seen some interesting developments in the field of media streaming in SL
[2007/10/21 12:15] Dizzy Banjo: the discussion has been taking place on various blogs and forums
[2007/10/21 12:16] Dizzy Banjo: obviously this involves differing systems.. which could be seen as being in competition with each other.. but i want to try to keep these discussions to a positive discussion about the benefits of technolgies and how they can be employed creatively
[2007/10/21 12:17] Dizzy Banjo: the metamusic group is primarily about examining different areas of in world sound
[2007/10/21 12:17] Dizzy Banjo: but media streaming, whilst being able to stream video.. can also obviously be used for just sound..
[2007/10/21 12:18] Dizzy Banjo: there are a number of solutions emerging
[2007/10/21 12:18] AWM Mars: and 2d’s
[2007/10/21 12:18] Dizzy Banjo: yeah
[2007/10/21 12:18] Dizzy Banjo: including the silverstream network / i3dnow.com solutions, the Cruxy systems, as well as others by temporal gadgets..
[2007/10/21 12:19] Dizzy Banjo: there are also control systems emerging for slickly controlling media
[2007/10/21 12:19] Dizzy Banjo: some of these have been around for some time now
[2007/10/21 12:19] Dizzy Banjo: but this week another one emerged, amid some controversy lol
[2007/10/21 12:19] Dizzy Banjo: from unmitigated gall here..
[2007/10/21 12:19] Dizzy Banjo: called the SLiPod
[2007/10/21 12:19] AWM Mars: the ‘wheel’?
[2007/10/21 12:19] Dizzy Banjo: lol ..
[2007/10/21 12:20] Dizzy Banjo: steady
[2007/10/21 12:20] AWM Mars: j/k
[2007/10/21 12:20] Malburns Writer: lol
[2007/10/21 12:20] Dizzy Banjo: i thought maybe we could talk about this and take a look at it
[2007/10/21 12:21] Dizzy Banjo: i wont speak on behalf of unmitigated.. but its an interesting idea, i dont really have a view of the specifics of the technology .. but the concept of media distribution in itself is very interesting.. and i thought it was worth sharing with everyone
[2007/10/21 12:21] Dizzy Banjo: let me throw out a load of media first
[2007/10/21 12:22] Spence Wilder: great Diz… this has been on everyone’s “to-do” list :)
[2007/10/21 12:23] Dizzy Banjo: ok if anyone hasnt got one shout
[2007/10/21 12:24] Dizzy Banjo: you should have an object called “BETA – Mexico Chichen Itza..”
[2007/10/21 12:24] Ike Sinatra: i see it
[2007/10/21 12:24] Ike Sinatra: but does everybody see it or is it based on a hud type thing?
[2007/10/21 12:24] Rich Desoto: Wondered what to do with it…
[2007/10/21 12:24] Unmitigated Gall: Wear it
[2007/10/21 12:24] Dizzy Banjo: the object in the middle of the table.. is the SLiPod antena.. which has enabled this whole sim
[2007/10/21 12:25] Rich Desoto: ok
[2007/10/21 12:25] Dizzy Banjo: so now just right click on it and wear it
[2007/10/21 12:25] BETA -Mexico Chichen Itza Archeological Site – New World Wonder: Now Playing
[2007/10/21 12:25] Kentar Vendetta: you need video enabled?
[2007/10/21 12:25] Dizzy Banjo: yes
[2007/10/21 12:25] Dizzy Banjo: you need quicktime installed too
[2007/10/21 12:25] Joi Koi: is there a play/stop button?
[2007/10/21 12:25] Leslee McCarey: plays on the audio channel
[2007/10/21 12:25] Ike Sinatra: did you get my question?
[2007/10/21 12:25] No Freenote: it doesn’t match my outfit
[2007/10/21 12:25] Leslee McCarey: LOL No!
[2007/10/21 12:25] Dizzy Banjo: ok stop your audio stream
[2007/10/21 12:26] Malburns Writer: ok – its working fine
[2007/10/21 12:26] JenzZa Misfit: only you see it, Ike
[2007/10/21 12:26] Ike Sinatra: its a sort of hud ok
[2007/10/21 12:26] Jojamela Soon: ohh, pretty
[2007/10/21 12:26] Ike Sinatra: thanx
[2007/10/21 12:26] Leslee McCarey: nice tune dizzy!
[2007/10/21 12:26] No Freenote: did you just start my video stream?
[2007/10/21 12:26] Malburns Writer: totally independent of qt button
[2007/10/21 12:26] vHUD: Registration Complete
[2007/10/21 12:26] JenzZa Misfit: everyone could be watching seperate / different ones
[2007/10/21 12:26] Bettina Tizzy: stopped suddenly
[2007/10/21 12:26] Kentar Vendetta: not working yet
[2007/10/21 12:26] Kentar Vendetta: audio now
[2007/10/21 12:26] No Freenote: it remained open after mexico stopped…
[2007/10/21 12:26] Unmitigated Gall: somebody changed the land settings
[2007/10/21 12:26] skidz Tweak: same here
[2007/10/21 12:26] Kaiser Bogomil: standing out in the sun
[2007/10/21 12:26] Dizzy Banjo: ok
[2007/10/21 12:26] Dizzy Banjo: lol
[2007/10/21 12:26] JenzZa Misfit: DIzzy .. is the antenna deeded to your group ?
[2007/10/21 12:27] Dizzy Banjo: hold on a sec people
[2007/10/21 12:27] Rich Desoto: Mine stopped video, but hear the audio on the vid player
[2007/10/21 12:27] Kentar Vendetta: me also
[2007/10/21 12:27] Malburns Writer: interesting – i detached again and has taken music button away with it
[2007/10/21 12:27] Sloan Skjellerup too
[2007/10/21 12:27] JenzZa Misfit: now its working
[2007/10/21 12:27] Unmitigated Gall: the stream is thru the quicktime client.. to stop stream.. use media button on client
[2007/10/21 12:27] Dizzy Banjo: ive disabled audio
[2007/10/21 12:27] Dizzy Banjo: on this parcel
[2007/10/21 12:27] Malburns Writer: ah – ok
[2007/10/21 12:27] Ike Sinatra: you best haha
[2007/10/21 12:27] 57 Miles: cranberry fun?
[2007/10/21 12:27] JenzZa Misfit: i have vid & audio on my HUD screen working
[2007/10/21 12:27] Rich Desoto: Interesting
[2007/10/21 12:27] Kentar Vendetta: audio yes, video no
[2007/10/21 12:27] JenzZa Misfit: 57 .. is that your color ?
[2007/10/21 12:28] Jojamela Soon: I’m getting the TV player not the hud
[2007/10/21 12:28] Bettina Tizzy: was working fine, now no
[2007/10/21 12:28] JenzZa Misfit: lol
[2007/10/21 12:28] Dizzy Banjo: because some of you might be confusing the cruxy audio stream of the mexico music with this videostream of it
[2007/10/21 12:28] 57 Miles: nah, i like green
[2007/10/21 12:28] Dizzy Banjo: sorry about that
[2007/10/21 12:28] Dizzy Banjo: ok
[2007/10/21 12:28] Leslee McCarey: interesting – when stream ended, audio button on viewer vanished
[2007/10/21 12:28] Dizzy Banjo: so you should all have it playing on your screen now
[2007/10/21 12:28] AWM Mars: back .. phew..
[2007/10/21 12:28] Bettina Tizzy: same here Leslee
[2007/10/21 12:28] Dizzy Banjo: no thats not it leslee
[2007/10/21 12:28] Kentar Vendetta: no
[2007/10/21 12:28] Dizzy Banjo: that was me
[2007/10/21 12:28] Rich Desoto: I dont’ see the video, but I hear audio
[2007/10/21 12:28] Dizzy Banjo: lol
[2007/10/21 12:28] Bettina Tizzy: still, what I saw, I *liked*
[2007/10/21 12:28] Leslee McCarey: ahhhh
[2007/10/21 12:28] Jojamela Soon: same here audio but no video
[2007/10/21 12:28] No Freenote: while you’re fixing stuff dizzy, would it be helpful to hear my story how i dj’d last night but wrestled with the stupid stream for the first half hour?
[2007/10/21 12:28] Leslee McCarey: ok – trying again
[2007/10/21 12:28] Ike Sinatra: i saw its cool as a a commercial giveaway
[2007/10/21 12:28] Dizzy Banjo: lol
[2007/10/21 12:29] Kentar Vendetta: I’ve started and stopped several times, audio but no video
[2007/10/21 12:29] Jojamela Soon: detach and reattach
[2007/10/21 12:29] Dizzy Banjo: you need to have quicktime installed
[2007/10/21 12:29] Jojamela Soon: it’s working now
[2007/10/21 12:29] Lillie Yifu: I ma getting audio
[2007/10/21 12:29] Kentar Vendetta: yes
[2007/10/21 12:29] Davide Paravane: I’m hearing something about a fashion show. Is that what I should be hearing?
[2007/10/21 12:29] Bettina Tizzy: took off and put back on… now working again
[2007/10/21 12:29] Rich Desoto: Quicktime is always installed
[2007/10/21 12:29] Rich Desoto: lol
[2007/10/21 12:29] Bettina Tizzy: try putting it back on
[2007/10/21 12:29] Lillie Yifu: in fact, I didn’t do anything, and got the audio
[2007/10/21 12:29] Unmitigated Gall: hehe
[2007/10/21 12:29] AWM Mars: might be a bandwidth isue from the streaming server
[2007/10/21 12:29] AWM Mars: issue*
[2007/10/21 12:29] Unmitigated Gall: nope.
[2007/10/21 12:29] Dizzy Banjo: anyway
[2007/10/21 12:30] Malburns Writer: i have both audio and video – it does work
[2007/10/21 12:30] Kentar Vendetta: for some
[2007/10/21 12:30] Rich Desoto: Mine is back on and restarted from the beginning…
[2007/10/21 12:30] JenzZa Misfit: oh my .. mine is a fashion show too .. thats not right it is ?
[2007/10/21 12:30] Jojamela Soon: when I detached and reattached it started working
[2007/10/21 12:30] Kentar Vendetta: and my quicktime version is the newest
[2007/10/21 12:30] Kentar Vendetta: I’ll try htat
[2007/10/21 12:30] Jojamela Soon: that’s SLCN JenzZa
[2007/10/21 12:30] Shy Robbiani: Same happened to me
[2007/10/21 12:30] Bettina Tizzy: I wonder, is there a notecard or something regarding this gizmo?
[2007/10/21 12:31] JenzZa Misfit: hmmmm
[2007/10/21 12:31] Dizzy Banjo: whats interesting , id suspect from many musical artists point of view here.. is that they can distribute their music very easily in the manner i just did with objects etc
[2007/10/21 12:31] Unmitigated Gall: Still in testing Bettina..
[2007/10/21 12:31] AWM Mars: I have audio and video
[2007/10/21 12:31] Shy Robbiani: but I experience a lot of sound interruptions
[2007/10/21 12:31] Bettina Tizzy: working super well for me
[2007/10/21 12:31] Tolly Soderstrom: Yes, I see that Diz
[2007/10/21 12:31] Rich Desoto: Meaning what, Dizzy?
[2007/10/21 12:31] Kentar Vendetta: good call on the attach
[2007/10/21 12:31] Kentar Vendetta: working now
[2007/10/21 12:31] Markup Melnik: wow!
[2007/10/21 12:31] Dizzy Banjo: ok.. hang on a sec maybe we should clear up all this otehr media technology off the parcel
[2007/10/21 12:31] Rich Desoto: I don’t have video to distribute
[2007/10/21 12:31] Gio Pro: i cant even see it after i wear it
[2007/10/21 12:31] Fleep Tuque: / Video is working fine for me, credits are rolling at the moment
[2007/10/21 12:31] AWM Mars: does it have channel controls.. or can you select other stations/media?
[2007/10/21 12:32] Bettina Tizzy: Ok… simple questions… 1) What is this called 2) Who made it? 3) System requirements?
[2007/10/21 12:32] Da5id Zsigmond: I get one second of sound every once in a while.
[2007/10/21 12:32] Kentar Vendetta: video working, choppy though
[2007/10/21 12:32] Kaiser Bogomil: The best part of this video – :) is the Butterfly!
[2007/10/21 12:32] Geuis Dassin: I’ve checked this out. In what fundamental way is this different than Silverstream?
[2007/10/21 12:32] AWM Mars: works perfect for me
[2007/10/21 12:32] Maxie Schneider: this looks phantastic! how is this HUD called? and where can we get it?
[2007/10/21 12:32] skidz Tweak: So.. you saying if I had video of my products.. I could hand this out for people to watch them anytime?
[2007/10/21 12:32] Spence Wilder: fyi – I don’t see the HUD no matter what
[2007/10/21 12:32] Unmitigated Gall: In the beta I am showing off it is a weartune..
[2007/10/21 12:32] AWM Mars: although I would say, the loading on my client is 30-45%
[2007/10/21 12:32] Fable Sinatra: do you have quicktime Spence?
[2007/10/21 12:32] AWM Mars: which is very high
[2007/10/21 12:32] Spence Wilder: yup – latest n greatest.. mac..
[2007/10/21 12:33] Unmitigated Gall: so no channels..
[2007/10/21 12:33] Unmitigated Gall: I have other versions for that
[2007/10/21 12:33] Bettina Tizzy: Impressive! 1) what is it called 2) Who made it 3) System requirements?
[2007/10/21 12:33] Malburns Writer: it does feel like a heavy extra CPU load
[2007/10/21 12:33] Jurin Juran: spence, where did it attach for you? try the bottom hud attachments
[2007/10/21 12:33] AWM Mars: press Ctrl+Shift+2 and look at the lime green bars.. thats the media loading on your clients…
[2007/10/21 12:33] Fleep Tuque: / Is this tied to parcel?
[2007/10/21 12:33] Unmitigated Gall: I made it, its called the SLiPOD player, and these are weartunes you have on
[2007/10/21 12:33] Spence Wilder: I’ve tried everywhere
[2007/10/21 12:33] AWM Mars: I have a very powerful system and its loading mine by 40%
[2007/10/21 12:34] Lillie Yifu: And a different quesiton, how do thos of us who don’t want to be forced to listen to it stop it. I’ve alreadyhad people force the sim I am on into their channel several times.
[2007/10/21 12:34] Jurin Juran: i had to edit the hud placement to see the hud
[2007/10/21 12:34] Malburns Writer: best to choose “wear” rather that your own HUD position
[2007/10/21 12:34] Lillie Yifu: Now that the word of the abilitity to do this is out, it won’t be long before peopel will be harvesting IP addresses with it
[2007/10/21 12:34] Gio Pro: i still cant see it
[2007/10/21 12:34] Spence Wilder: right, but when that failed… :)
[2007/10/21 12:34] Jurin Juran: i did that mal, and it was off my screen
[2007/10/21 12:34] Rich Desoto: So I don’t understand… how do we, the content provider, get our stuff to this stream? Esp. video.
[2007/10/21 12:34] Maxie Schneider: thank you, Unmitigated
[2007/10/21 12:34] Fleep Tuque: Sometimes when you attach a hud to a specific location instead of wear – then it wont work with wear either. Have no idea. Try deleting that copy and have dizzy give you new one, then just choose wear.
[2007/10/21 12:34] Sir Brennen: oh this is wonderful
[2007/10/21 12:35] Jurin Juran: but it works perfectly now that i see it
[2007/10/21 12:35] Geuis Dassin: sorry to repeat but how is this any different than Silverstream?
[2007/10/21 12:35] AWM Mars: you got to wear another HUD and edit it, then scroll out of the viewer window to see the HUD so you can drag it back into view
[2007/10/21 12:35] Unmitigated Gall: Thats coming Ritch.. Get with me if you have some stuff to do now
[2007/10/21 12:35] AWM Mars: Hi Geuis
[2007/10/21 12:35] Geuis Dassin: hey man
[2007/10/21 12:35] Rich Desoto: no worries…
[2007/10/21 12:36] Bettina Tizzy: Thank you, Unmitigated :)
[2007/10/21 12:36] Fleep Tuque: Unmitigated, sorry if I missed it, is this tied to a land parcel?
[2007/10/21 12:36] Dizzy Banjo: anyway as i was saying.. i can imagine alot of recording artists having alot of fun throwing out free tracks after concerts etc..
[2007/10/21 12:36] Dizzy Banjo: no its not
[2007/10/21 12:36] Unmitigated Gall: no Fleep, tied to a sim
[2007/10/21 12:36] Leslee McCarey: I”m not getting it to play either, after several detatch reattach attempts
[2007/10/21 12:36] Unmitigated Gall: one antenna activates whole sim
[2007/10/21 12:36] Fleep Tuque: Ok, so can’t have multiple in the same sim
[2007/10/21 12:36] Malburns Writer: totally bypassing parcels
[2007/10/21 12:36] Kentar Vendetta: how is that different than the cds that already exist in sl?
[2007/10/21 12:37] AWM Mars: CD’s dont play movies, only audio
[2007/10/21 12:37] Lillie Yifu: It’s different because it forces anyone with media enabled to listen to this
[2007/10/21 12:37] Lillie Yifu: without anything else
[2007/10/21 12:37] Rich Desoto: Isn’t that hijacking people’s land, then?
[2007/10/21 12:37] Lillie Yifu: yes it does
[2007/10/21 12:37] Fleep Tuque: Only if you’re wearing the receiver hud though, right?
[2007/10/21 12:37] Unmitigated Gall: no, the land settings are not affected
[2007/10/21 12:38] Lillie Yifu: no
[2007/10/21 12:38] Da5id Zsigmond: This stream is independent of parcels and tied to an object you can copy?
[2007/10/21 12:38] Kentar Vendetta: I haven’t tried the dvds yet, but are they similar?
[2007/10/21 12:38] Dizzy Banjo: yeh or no copy items..
[2007/10/21 12:38] Maxie Schneider: this is wonderful! does it play also other formats than qt files?
[2007/10/21 12:38] Unmitigated Gall: it plays anything the Quicktime client can play
[2007/10/21 12:39] Markup Melnik: How about linux gstreammer?
[2007/10/21 12:39] Unmitigated Gall: for example, I have been able to get radio streams into it this week
[2007/10/21 12:39] Unmitigated Gall: so you have the potential for wearable radio
[2007/10/21 12:39] Sir Brennen: nice
[2007/10/21 12:40] skidz Tweak: Where can we pick up an SDK so we can make our own to distribute?
[2007/10/21 12:40] Dizzy Banjo: lol
[2007/10/21 12:40] Unmitigated Gall: the media is limited to the quicktime capabilities we figure out how to utilize
[2007/10/21 12:40] AWM Mars: Its a great system in isolation and you are applauded for its conception…
[2007/10/21 12:40] Lillie Yifu: We should also agitate for UG to get paid for this
[2007/10/21 12:40] Unmitigated Gall: it has one intended application
[2007/10/21 12:41] Lillie Yifu: because clearly this is a huge increase in sl capabilities
[2007/10/21 12:41] Da5id Zsigmond: If I use this for a radio stream will only I get it ?
[2007/10/21 12:41] Lillie Yifu: and he has done some really deep work to get it to happen
[2007/10/21 12:41] Unmitigated Gall: deliver distribute media fast and easy
[2007/10/21 12:41] AWM Mars: Umm… I have a problem with statements like ‘New’ technology… it isnt
[2007/10/21 12:41] Unmitigated Gall: MArs, give me a break..
[2007/10/21 12:41] Geuis Dassin: aye. AWM showed me this very system back in March
[2007/10/21 12:41] Navillus Batra: LOL.
[2007/10/21 12:41] Geuis Dassin: and *none* of you should be buying this
[2007/10/21 12:41] Dizzy Banjo: ok guys lets leave this discussion for another time.. lol
[2007/10/21 12:42] Geuis Dassin: because Linden Lab will close this bug down very quickly
[2007/10/21 12:42] Dizzy Banjo: thats is unlikely now Geuis
[2007/10/21 12:42] Sir Brennen: ?
[2007/10/21 12:42] skidz Tweak: I hope not
[2007/10/21 12:42] Geuis Dassin: the entire media parcel system they have in place is specifically engineered by their own policy to limit streaming capabilities to land owners
[2007/10/21 12:42] Malburns Writer: HUDs are like clothes – we wear them and move around with them
[2007/10/21 12:42] Lillie Yifu: They would be very stupid to “close” this. But they do need to compensate the people who found it, and close the problems with it before rolling it out generally.
[2007/10/21 12:42] AWM Mars: I’m not here to argue.. seriously.. but this has been done way back early this year.. but as I say, in issolation its a great system..
[2007/10/21 12:42] Geuis Dassin: you guys do realize that technically, the sims have *nothing* to do streaming media
[2007/10/21 12:43] Malburns Writer: i doubt lindens will worry unless is something rezzed on land
[2007/10/21 12:43] Navillus Batra: Dizzy, would it be okay to mention some differences we offer with the SilverStream?
[2007/10/21 12:43] Unmitigated Gall: Thanks Mars.. I understand
[2007/10/21 12:43] Geuis Dassin: the restriction of streams to land is an artificial constraint
[2007/10/21 12:43] Dizzy Banjo: yeh that would be good navillus..
[2007/10/21 12:43] Geuis Dassin: and they will not be changing that
[2007/10/21 12:43] Lillie Yifu: True
[2007/10/21 12:43] Rich Desoto: (still trying to figure out how musicians can use or would use this)
[2007/10/21 12:43] Movies1963 Beck: Dizzy if we input live video in quicktime the students wearing this will see the realtime live footage?
[2007/10/21 12:43] AWM Mars: there is no restriction… none, other than a myth created by LL by misquoting..
[2007/10/21 12:43] Geuis Dassin: so this is a hack which violates their own predetermined policy and engineering standards
[2007/10/21 12:43] Fleep Tuque: Are you representing Linden Lab in some capacity Geuis?
[2007/10/21 12:44] Unmitigated Gall: yes Movies1963
[2007/10/21 12:44] Kentar Vendetta: it would help the fuedal restraints now imposed in sl on musicians and music lovers
[2007/10/21 12:44] Dizzy Banjo: i think the positive factors of each system is a good thing to discuss.. technologically they may have similarities.. but there are differences in conceptual approach and potential implementation
[2007/10/21 12:44] AWM Mars: I’m all for any technology that promotes both SL and the 3d metaverse…
[2007/10/21 12:44] Navillus Batra: We also offer a similar product, which to answer skidz question, we do have an API avaliable, which is being used by others to develop thier own products for SilverStream.
[2007/10/21 12:44] Geuis Dassin: not representing LL, simply stating what I know of over 2 years experience in SL, with a very in depth technical knowledge of how the platform works
[2007/10/21 12:44] Jurin Juran: for live events that fill sims, couldn’t people wear the huds in other sims to watch the live music rich?
[2007/10/21 12:44] Navillus Batra: In fact CRUXY is evaluating that potential this week.
[2007/10/21 12:44] Geuis Dassin: so be warned, this is a bug that will more than likely be shut off
[2007/10/21 12:45] Fleep Tuque nods.
[2007/10/21 12:45] skidz Tweak: thx
[2007/10/21 12:45] Dizzy Banjo: Geuis.. Jesse Linden seems to have a different view to you
[2007/10/21 12:45] Rich Desoto: Sure, I guess Jurin, but how is that diff than setting land somewhere for them in overflow… or listening via Winamp?
[2007/10/21 12:45] No Freenote: this is quite a gathering. someone should think about building a hotel nearby with convention room
[2007/10/21 12:45] Fleep Tuque: I don’t know that I got that impression from sl-dev (think that’s where I was reading about it)
[2007/10/21 12:45] Jurin Juran: video too rich
[2007/10/21 12:45] Geuis Dassin: in what way does he disagree?
[2007/10/21 12:45] Malburns Writer: There are other video HUD devices and they have not been shut down
[2007/10/21 12:45] Geuis Dassin: last blog entry I read from them didn’t dispute what I am saying
[2007/10/21 12:46] Rich Desoto: Video of what Jurin?
[2007/10/21 12:46] Spence Wilder: hee – a simulcast of the performance Rich?
[2007/10/21 12:46] Jurin Juran: someone could record the show, and show it in the hud, maybe a delay there tho
[2007/10/21 12:46] Jurin Juran: yeah simulcast it
[2007/10/21 12:46] Fleep Tuque: Navillus, yours is the vHUD, right?
[2007/10/21 12:46] Dizzy Banjo: personally i think having a range of systems is good for the community.. and also i cant see why LL would close down something which could potentially transform their business model..
[2007/10/21 12:46] AWM Mars: I would ask one important thing here about the future of the 3d internet and all the systems we see emerging…… are any of these ‘portable’ into other platforms right now?….. The Silver Stream is…. from the ground up..
[2007/10/21 12:46] Rich Desoto: UStream can do that now… albeit it is outside of SL
[2007/10/21 12:47] Navillus Batra: Yes, ours is the vHUD, and in currently includes live feeds from SLCN, so the idea of a simulcast is in operation.
[2007/10/21 12:47] Spence Wilder: BUT, has anyone in the room seen a QT realt-time stream at a 40+ avvie event?
[2007/10/21 12:47] Fleep Tuque: Right, I use your hud to watch SLCN.tv productions, Navillus.
[2007/10/21 12:47] Geuis Dassin: because dizzy, their main money maker is based on the sale of land and the maintenance fees they impose
[2007/10/21 12:47] Rich Desoto: I’ve never seen any real-time video in SL
[2007/10/21 12:47] Malburns Writer: HUDs provide personal channels by and large
[2007/10/21 12:47] No Freenote: is there someway to bully LL into accepting this hud tech? if there are a zillion sent out maybe?
[2007/10/21 12:47] Malburns Writer: and dont conflict with the shared experienced
[2007/10/21 12:47] Navillus Batra: Yes Spence, the Metanomics with SLCN does it almost every week.
[2007/10/21 12:47] Dizzy Banjo: currently yes Geuis.. but that needent always be the case
[2007/10/21 12:47] Malburns Writer: i doubt lindens will be bothered
[2007/10/21 12:48] Geuis Dassin: one of the only reasons to buy land is to have the ability to stream media
[2007/10/21 12:48] Fleep Tuque: Rich, it works. When SLCN.tv broadcasts live, I can watch it from elsewhere with the vHUD
[2007/10/21 12:48] Rich Desoto: Did not know that Fleep
[2007/10/21 12:48] Rich Desoto: Never watched that
[2007/10/21 12:48] Malburns Writer: i watch metanomics from a remote location every week
[2007/10/21 12:48] Fleep Tuque: There are many reasons to buy land besides streaming. :) Such as building stuff? :)
[2007/10/21 12:48] Leslee McCarey: Rich – or with a feed set up to any video screen
[2007/10/21 12:48] Malburns Writer: cant be bothered with lag at actual venue
[2007/10/21 12:48] Malburns Writer: is easy
[2007/10/21 12:48] Navillus Batra: I have samples of the vHUD if anyone wants to try it…
[2007/10/21 12:48] Dizzy Banjo: lol mal..
[2007/10/21 12:48] Geuis Dassin: aye, and with them opening the grid to 3rd party servers soon, that may change
[2007/10/21 12:49] JenzZa Misfit: lol .. no kidding *buy land to stream media ? **
[2007/10/21 12:49] Geuis Dassin: but to go back to what you said, what did jesse linden say that contradicts what Im saying?
[2007/10/21 12:49] Leslee McCarey didn’t buy land to stream media… LOL
[2007/10/21 12:49] JenzZa Misfit: I will Navillus ..
[2007/10/21 12:49] JenzZa Misfit: I want to test drive all the fun stuff :)
[2007/10/21 12:49] AWM Mars: the vHUD is truely a Multimedia system, it covers radio, movies, RSS feeds, internet
directory linking for web searches, will have a buy from the movie screen for goods.. 2D’s, even those not supported natively by SL… and whats more, its portable into virtually any VR platform
[2007/10/21 12:50] Navillus Batra: Dizzy will need to rerez the SilverStream server. :)
[2007/10/21 12:50] Dizzy Banjo: ok sorry
[2007/10/21 12:50] Da5id Zsigmond: How much overhead do systems like this cause the Linden servers??
[2007/10/21 12:50] Fleep Tuque: Good question, Da5id
[2007/10/21 12:50] Kentar Vendetta: and can this be a means for griefers to attack?
[2007/10/21 12:50] AWM Mars: Silver Stream causes less overheads than flexi hair
[2007/10/21 12:51] Unmitigated Gall: The strain is mainly point to point
[2007/10/21 12:51] Da5id Zsigmond: lol
[2007/10/21 12:51] JenzZa Misfit: and actually Geuis…being able to stream media on land .. is sort of like frosting on a cake …its not the big reason to want to own land .. seriously
[2007/10/21 12:51] Unmitigated Gall: from client to stream
[2007/10/21 12:51] Dizzy Banjo: Jesse is confident all these systems can exist on the grid
[2007/10/21 12:51] Geuis Dassin: AWM’s avatar causes more load
[2007/10/21 12:51] Geuis Dassin: =)
[2007/10/21 12:51] Unmitigated Gall: the server just servs it up
[2007/10/21 12:51] Da5id Zsigmond: Why would Linden care if its not a bandwidth issue?
[2007/10/21 12:51] AWM Mars: LOL.. yep.. I’m the testbed
[2007/10/21 12:51] Geuis Dassin: EXACTLY my point
[2007/10/21 12:51] Fleep Tuque: I’d love to be able to stream live lecture to our students from an on-campus location while they are in SL doing stuff on the grid, for example. Good reason to divorce media from parcel.
[2007/10/21 12:51] Geuis Dassin: it *doesnt* require any load on the sims
[2007/10/21 12:52] Malburns Writer: you can already Fleep
[2007/10/21 12:52] Geuis Dassin: the restrictions in place, to only stream media if you own land, have been ENTIRELY ARTIFICIAL
[2007/10/21 12:52] Da5id Zsigmond: It would seem to make sense to encourage point to point data routes for media.
[2007/10/21 12:52] Geuis Dassin: it was a fake thing 2+ years ago, and its still phony now
[2007/10/21 12:52] AWM Mars: the system is ‘location’ relevant.. in that it needs to know the location of an avatar in the 3d environment, SL already knows that info.. so no additional loads are imposed..
[2007/10/21 12:52] Fleep Tuque: Huh, I’ll have to follow up with you Mal
[2007/10/21 12:52] Lillie Yifu: We heard you Geius
[2007/10/21 12:53] Rich Desoto: Do we still see latency here with this system like we do streaming in from our shoutcast streams?
[2007/10/21 12:53] Geuis Dassin: so if it causes no load on the sims, what other reason have they kept this model other than to encourage people to buy land?
[2007/10/21 12:53] Kentar Vendetta: exactly
[2007/10/21 12:53] AWM Mars: no more than say Voice…
[2007/10/21 12:53] Kentar Vendetta: that and griefer control
[2007/10/21 12:53] JenzZa Misfit: good grief
[2007/10/21 12:53] Lillie Yifu: It is also to prevent forcing media
[2007/10/21 12:53] Geuis Dassin: which is why I will still say, wait and see what they do
[2007/10/21 12:53] Da5id Zsigmond: I bought land with no intention of media. I make sound in world
[2007/10/21 12:53] Geuis Dassin: before anyone tries developing entire platforms on this
[2007/10/21 12:54] Fleep Tuque: All of SL is a crapshoot, at some level
[2007/10/21 12:54] Dizzy Banjo: Geuis.. why do you think they havent closed down silverstream already ?
[2007/10/21 12:54] Rich Desoto: I guess I don’t see benefit in having people look at a static shot of me playing in my studio. Audio is fine for me.
[2007/10/21 12:54] Unmitigated Gall: yes Fleep..
[2007/10/21 12:54] Fleep Tuque: If we let us stop us, none of us would be here.
[2007/10/21 12:54] Fleep Tuque: Er if we let THAT stop us.. rather. :)
[2007/10/21 12:54] Spence Wilder: Don’t forget Rich, you can use just the audio
[2007/10/21 12:54] AWM Mars: Thats why, the Silver Stream is portable to other 3d enviroments.. it will cover virtualy any platform and was designed that way
[2007/10/21 12:54] Geuis Dassin: silverstream isnt using a hack in such a way that anyone can change the sim-wide media settings, for one
[2007/10/21 12:55] Rich Desoto: And then it requires our audience to each have to do something extra to get their audio…
[2007/10/21 12:55] Unmitigated Gall: what is a sim wide media setting?
[2007/10/21 12:55] Geuis Dassin: which someone brought up a few minutes ago
[2007/10/21 12:55] Fleep Tuque: There is no such thing unless all the land is one one parcel
[2007/10/21 12:55] AWM Mars: Silver Stream has nothing to do with SL land based media :¬), as I’m sure Unmitigated’s system isnt
[2007/10/21 12:55] Unmitigated Gall: exactly Mars
[2007/10/21 12:55] Dizzy Banjo: yes, these dont change parcel or sim media settings
[2007/10/21 12:55] Rich Desoto: New people have enough trouble getting their clothes on… let alone knowing what to do with a new hud.
[2007/10/21 12:55] Spence Wilder: True enough in today’s model Rich (and they need QT)
[2007/10/21 12:55] Navillus Batra: Here is a interesting link to the SL wiki to a parcel media page discussing potential future changes by the Lindens. https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Media_on_a_parcel
[2007/10/21 12:55] Fleep Tuque: For this to work you have to be wearing the HUD, if you aren’t wearing the HUD then you see/hear the parcel’s regular settings. No?
[2007/10/21 12:56] AWM Mars: its about proximity of an avatar.. like a radar sensor
[2007/10/21 12:56] Dizzy Banjo: yes that is an interesting Wiki
[2007/10/21 12:56] Fleep Tuque: Thanks for link Navillus
[2007/10/21 12:56] Unmitigated Gall: hehe.. so now right clicking and ‘WEAR”ing is to hard Ritch?
[2007/10/21 12:56] Rich Desoto: Well, knowing how people are at our shows, yes UG
[2007/10/21 12:56] Dizzy Banjo: lol
[2007/10/21 12:56] Spence Wilder: Well, I haven’t made it happen here yet :)
[2007/10/21 12:56] Unmitigated Gall: hehe.. u could be right
[2007/10/21 12:56] Rich Desoto: They can’t even figure out how to turn on media now
[2007/10/21 12:56] Kentar Vendetta: it’s teh AWARENESS ofhte need to do it that makes it difficult for newbies
[2007/10/21 12:56] Spence Wilder: And I’m something of an expert user
[2007/10/21 12:56] Fleep Tuque: Now now, be nice to the newbies. :)
[2007/10/21 12:56] Dizzy Banjo: however these systems.. dont need to be on HUDs
[2007/10/21 12:57] Rich Desoto: I’m being realistic, not brash
[2007/10/21 12:57] AWM Mars: LOL.. the SS uses an automated system based on a passive sensor
[2007/10/21 12:57] Dizzy Banjo: they can be proximity based on obejcts
[2007/10/21 12:57] Spence Wilder: right Dizzy!
[2007/10/21 12:57] Kentar Vendetta: it’s not a criticism
[2007/10/21 12:57] Dizzy Banjo: so ease of use is a simple issue here i think
[2007/10/21 12:57] Kentar Vendetta: people new to sl are overwelmed by the options
[2007/10/21 12:57] Unmitigated Gall: yes… in world systems based on whatever you can create with LSL
[2007/10/21 12:57] Dizzy Banjo: its abotu the implemtation of the system in a build
[2007/10/21 12:57] Leslee McCarey: Rich – I wouldn’t see this as replacing basic live stream for peformances – rather the options for asynchronous audio
[2007/10/21 12:57] Navillus Batra: Adn the silverStream is not just on a HUD. We have stationary screens that will work in conjunction with the SilverStream, so there is not media conflict.
[2007/10/21 12:57] Kentar Vendetta: took me a week to find the help cards in my inventory ;-)
[2007/10/21 12:58] AWM Mars: The Media on a parcel is what has stunted the media system controller developers in SL for years, a misquote..
[2007/10/21 12:58] Rich Desoto: I could see that leslee… but no the primary (at this point)
[2007/10/21 12:58] AWM Mars: you do not need SL’s media functions
[2007/10/21 12:58] Fleep Tuque: I think the issue of teaching newbs how to use the interface is a separate issue. We SHOULD design systems that use HUDs (that are easy to operate once worn) because eventually newbies will learn about HUDs.
[2007/10/21 12:58] AWM Mars: only the pluggin
[2007/10/21 12:59] Rich Desoto: Eventually, yes… but when you are playing a show the last thing you want to do is have people trying to chat about “what to do next” just to get the performance
[2007/10/21 12:59] Fleep Tuque: It isn’t hijacking land if you have to be wearing the HUD to see or hear it though, right?
[2007/10/21 12:59] AWM Mars: exactly Feep
[2007/10/21 12:59] AWM Mars: Fleep*
[2007/10/21 12:59] Lillie Yifu: That’s not exactly true
[2007/10/21 12:59] Fleep Tuque: I wouldn’t consider my land “hijacked” if some joe wanders in wearing his own
HUD listening to his own media. It’s his choice, no problem.
[2007/10/21 12:59] Malburns Writer: The problem wioth HUDs is they are private and also if like me there is not
enough loading space for more than 9 – we need effiicent plug-in system for them first
[2007/10/21 12:59] AWM Mars: its about choices.. no more than your TV at home is stuck on one channel
[2007/10/21 12:59] Rich Desoto: Don’t get me wrong folks… I’m all for new options if we can sort them out… Just
being devils advocate right now
[2007/10/21 13:00] Dizzy Banjo: yes its an issue of consent
[2007/10/21 13:00] Leslee McCarey: Flee- yes,, no different than my having iTunes running in the background while
in SL
[2007/10/21 13:00] Malburns Writer: my TV has database for multiple channels without touching land feed – that is no
problem now
[2007/10/21 13:00] Rich Desoto: (itunes… yuck… hehehehe)
[2007/10/21 13:00] Spence Wilder: And I’d offer that, from a UI POV, the HUD is a barrier to the in-world experience
[2007/10/21 13:00] Dizzy Banjo: you always give your consent to wear an item
[2007/10/21 13:00] Fleep Tuque: I don’t really want to force someone on my land to only listen to my media, if they
want to consume something else they’ll just leave!
[2007/10/21 13:00] Kentar Vendetta: notecards with clear directions included with products make a HUGE diff.
[2007/10/21 13:00] AWM Mars: Whats been limiting SL for years is, a great band comes into SL and can only get
limited exposure due to SIM limitations etc.. now it can be broadcast anywhere in SL..
[2007/10/21 13:00] Dizzy Banjo: fleep you dont have to
[2007/10/21 13:00] Leslee McCarey: (lol Rich)
[2007/10/21 13:00] Unmitigated Gall: I see this as great for shopping malls..
[2007/10/21 13:01] Unmitigated Gall: public spaces
[2007/10/21 13:01] Navillus Batra: We have designed the next version of the vHUD to offer the ability to share with others what you are currently watching, to embrace the community aspect, like you might share the headphones together to hear a song.
[2007/10/21 13:01] AWM Mars: education
[2007/10/21 13:01] Malburns Writer: i dread what shopping malls will do !!lol
[2007/10/21 13:01] Unmitigated Gall: hehe
[2007/10/21 13:01] Fleep Tuque laughs.
[2007/10/21 13:01] Lillie Yifu: I do if I am sitting on my land and someoen forces me to listen to their music
[2007/10/21 13:01] Leslee McCarey: LOL Mal
[2007/10/21 13:01] Lillie Yifu: and I am here to report athat that has already ahppened to me
[2007/10/21 13:01] Geuis Dassin: so instead of a hud, how about an attachment that I can have to play audio to me?
[2007/10/21 13:01] Leslee McCarey: Mal: slmuzak?!
[2007/10/21 13:01] Fleep Tuque: Lillie – JUST REMOVE THE HUD then you aren’t forced to do anything. Unless I
am misunderstanding something.
[2007/10/21 13:01] AWM Mars: whats forcing.. you have a channel selector and an off switch!!
[2007/10/21 13:01] Rich Desoto: It would be good delivery of specials/new shops/etc. in the malls. Short filler IDs to
go between the music.
[2007/10/21 13:02] Unmitigated Gall: Gueiss, the Cruxy player is attachment
[2007/10/21 13:02] Malburns Writer: there is one problem with linden video feeds – it is hard to get ppl synched
watching at same time
[2007/10/21 13:02] Unmitigated Gall: and it works great
[2007/10/21 13:02] Geuis Dassin: one thing that someone in this room has taught me is that huds are a bad way to
go
[2007/10/21 13:02] Da5id Zsigmond: The ability to view an event really helps with the av limit.
[2007/10/21 13:02] Lillie Yifu: I wasn’t wearing the HUD, what you don’t seem to understand is that hte smae exploit
that UG is using is out there for even broader use
[2007/10/21 13:02] Geuis Dassin: people generally dont like em
[2007/10/21 13:02] Malburns Writer: there would be space for HUD that broadcast feeds to a schedule
[2007/10/21 13:02] Unmitigated Gall: LET ME SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT<< I AM USING NO EXPLOIT
[2007/10/21 13:02] AWM Mars: Not so… if they are long epics maybe, but the system is being developed as we
speak, that incorporates a memory
[2007/10/21 13:03] Unmitigated Gall: Either is anybody else
[2007/10/21 13:03] Dizzy Banjo: fundamentally.. the increased presence of media ( and therefore more sound as
well as visual ) in SL .. will just make it far more communicative.. and potentially far more immersive.. so many people
have been itching to develop with video and audio in a much more dynamic way for so long.. these technologies can
only open up opportunities – and transform SL to a far better experience ( imho ) .. so id say this is very likely to be a
plus for LL
[2007/10/21 13:03] AWM Mars: Exploits are probably related to email spamming etc, thats what ppls fear the most
[2007/10/21 13:04] Dizzy Banjo: id guess.. that like all enabling technologies.. it will enable bad things as well as good
[2007/10/21 13:04] Geuis Dassin: here’s the real issue. Its the Viewer
[2007/10/21 13:04] Kentar Vendetta: natch. dizzy
[2007/10/21 13:04] Fable Sinatra: i worry it would make our shows less ”live” if people dont actually have to attend,
we may aswell record a bunch of stuff and DJ, audience partisipation is a big part of my performing
[2007/10/21 13:04] Fleep Tuque: Good point, Dizzy.
[2007/10/21 13:04] Geuis Dassin: we’re basically still wrapped in this frame of mind of using LSL hacks to get stuff done
[2007/10/21 13:04] Malburns Writer: True Fable
[2007/10/21 13:04] Unmitigated Gall: Fable… this is intend for different niche
[2007/10/21 13:04] Geuis Dassin: now that ESC is bringing out a kick-ass viewer, and others are being developed,
we just need to get this restriction taken out
[2007/10/21 13:04] Rich Desoto: From a performer standpoint, I agree with Fable… But I see tremendous benefit in other applications.
[2007/10/21 13:04] Unmitigated Gall: this is to support the live shows
[2007/10/21 13:05] Rich Desoto: I don’t think it will benefit us much at this stage
[2007/10/21 13:05] Lillie Yifu: DB <- absolutely. But as you can hear there are many people, myself incliuded who are enthusiastic about this technology, but also concerned about the downsides in its use, and concerned about what LL will do with respect ot this technology.
[2007/10/21 13:05] Unmitigated Gall: Spread your music
[2007/10/21 13:05] Unmitigated Gall: Get your name out
[2007/10/21 13:05] Fleep Tuque: If the sim is full at your music event, you don’t want people to listen remotely?
[2007/10/21 13:05] Dizzy Banjo: yeah Geuis i think all the new viewers will develop all this also
[2007/10/21 13:05] Malburns Writer: i guess is like TV broadcast from live concert – ambience better if there – but
also noice if not
[2007/10/21 13:05] AWM Mars: well.. depends on how you retrieve the information from SL in the first place.. if you
use standard api’s.. its no hack, but there are other ways less passive
[2007/10/21 13:05] Rich Desoto: They still can Fleep
[2007/10/21 13:05] Geuis Dassin: one thing I want in a new viewer is one that will respond to chat commands
[2007/10/21 13:05] Fable Sinatra: i like the idea for possible promotion. but during a show i am not so sure
[2007/10/21 13:05] skidz Tweak: Great discussion.. but I have to run… *waves goodbye to all*
[2007/10/21 13:05] Dizzy Banjo: potentially “specialist music” viewers too
[2007/10/21 13:05] Da5id Zsigmond: If an event is popular you can’t get in – that’s a real limitation.
[2007/10/21 13:05] AWM Mars: c yas skidz
[2007/10/21 13:05] Dizzy Banjo: cya
[2007/10/21 13:05] Unmitigated Gall: Flep, you can always deactivate the sim, if you want to force media seettings
[2007/10/21 13:05] Fleep Tuque: Bye skidz
[2007/10/21 13:06] Geuis Dassin: my SL viewer should be able to respond in custom ways to commands being
generated in SL.
[2007/10/21 13:06] Rich Desoto: But we can still have overflow locations
[2007/10/21 13:06] Rich Desoto: And the land has to be set… but in this case the antenna would have to be set,
right?
[2007/10/21 13:06] Rich Desoto: So, still extra steps during overflow
[2007/10/21 13:06] Geuis Dassin: so all I need is an attachment that has my radio stations, that chats on a secret channel. when my viewer hears it, switches to that stream
[2007/10/21 13:06] Unmitigated Gall: yes, Rich, and the overflowers can be anywhere, wearing a hud presetup for consert stream
[2007/10/21 13:06] Geuis Dassin: has no other interface with the server
[2007/10/21 13:06] AWM Mars: The Silver Stream uses a passive sensor in each screen, it only plays its media to anyone within its adjustable range… the vHUD overrides the static screen and allows the wearer full media control..
[2007/10/21 13:06] JenzZa Misfit: I am back and caught up … and Geuis … I stand by MY personal opinion which you have misquoted ::: USELESS HUDS … people hate — some task specific HUD that is something someone WANTS … is something entirely different .. I do NOT WANT a Landmark HUD .. but a VIDEO HUD .. is a COOL TOOL .. see the difference ?
[2007/10/21 13:07] Fleep Tuque: It sounds like this is just another option – not useful in every scenario or for every person, but a nice option for the right scenario or the person who wants to use it.
[2007/10/21 13:07] Navillus Batra: One thing we are experimenting with SLCN and the live feed, is if they want to teleport to the location of the broadcast we can do that for them, or offer a TP to an overflow area, so they can get the community experience of watching together.
[2007/10/21 13:07] Fleep Tuque: That would be cool Navillus
[2007/10/21 13:07] Unmitigated Gall: yes, if you want to distribute music for PR or to even sell it, it is an option
[2007/10/21 13:07] Dizzy Banjo: thats a nice idea
[2007/10/21 13:07] Fleep Tuque: That’s the one thing I miss about being on location at the event – the back channel
chat.
[2007/10/21 13:08] Dizzy Banjo: yeh that could be conveyed too
[2007/10/21 13:08] Dizzy Banjo: that may violate TOS though
[2007/10/21 13:08] Spence Wilder: Pushing real-time multimedia gets exciting to me as a live performer – simulcast
video imagery, maybe a text channel (lyrics for the sing-a-long)… everything QT can do
[2007/10/21 13:08] Fleep Tuque: nod dizzy
[2007/10/21 13:08] Unmitigated Gall: exactly Spence
[2007/10/21 13:08] Rich Desoto: Who will runn all of that Spence?
[2007/10/21 13:08] Malburns Writer: I think the principle of sharing and shared space is crucial in SL and ppl will not
pick up on too many “personal” channels when the old web can provide that experience
[2007/10/21 13:08] Movies1963 Beck: then we overthrow linden labs
[2007/10/21 13:08] AWM Mars: If you cannot get to a football match in RL.. you watch TV right? same with most of
these systems..
[2007/10/21 13:08] Unmitigated Gall: the hud rich, preprogrmaned
[2007/10/21 13:08] Dizzy Banjo: i agree mal
[2007/10/21 13:08] Da5id Zsigmond: It would be nice to be able to take just a camera to an event. and control it.
[2007/10/21 13:08] Rich Desoto: I certainly have enough on my plate just getting the avie in place while getting
stream going
[2007/10/21 13:09] Spence Wilder: Good point Rich.. . LOL, I’m an oddball
[2007/10/21 13:09] Dizzy Banjo: however “ghosting” multiple sims over each other could be interesting
[2007/10/21 13:09] Fleep Tuque: Mal – I think the experience of SL and viewing media in world is very different if you
have only one or more than one monitor on your desk in RL
[2007/10/21 13:09] Geuis Dassin: da5id, camera in what way?
[2007/10/21 13:09] Spence Wilder: but I’m a team of 1.. and that’s a valid concern
[2007/10/21 13:09] Rich Desoto: OK… so I’m seeing the big issue here. As a non-techie consumer, this is
confusing… for you that do tech… seems simple.
[2007/10/21 13:09] Dizzy Banjo: to give the impression of being with very many avatars
[2007/10/21 13:09] Da5id Zsigmond: rather than taking your av to a location – just be able to view.
[2007/10/21 13:10] Geuis Dassin: dizzy, one thing they are introducing with Windlight are phantom avatars
[2007/10/21 13:10] Fleep Tuque: I know people with only one monitor who hate URL links to outside websites in SL!
Because it takes them out of the experience. I don’t mind it one big cause it opens on my other screeen.
[2007/10/21 13:10] JenzZa Misfit: heres an example :: I had set up a video screen … with the URL to my product
video … for customers to view .. BUT :: end user inadequate set up ::: prevented MANY * most ? * from viewing it **
this was using my land stream **
[2007/10/21 13:10] Fleep Tuque: Which is why I see more media options = good. To give ppl choices.
[2007/10/21 13:10] Dizzy Banjo: yeah thats what im refering to Geuis
[2007/10/21 13:10] Geuis Dassin: basically, extra avatars will be in 2D instead of 3D
[2007/10/21 13:10] Geuis Dassin: kk
[2007/10/21 13:10] Dizzy Banjo: that concept could be pushed though
[2007/10/21 13:10] JenzZa Misfit: would be great to give out …. the personal device that each could just wear and
view …done deal.
[2007/10/21 13:10] AWM Mars: what about those that live in renter appratments and have no Media options?…
These systems give them control over their own media..
[2007/10/21 13:11] AWM Mars: rented*
[2007/10/21 13:11] Geuis Dassin: yeah, that is a good point
[2007/10/21 13:11] Geuis Dassin: which goes back to “artificial restriction”
[2007/10/21 13:11] Rich Desoto: But only to their visitors if the visitors have the hud, right?
[2007/10/21 13:11] Dizzy Banjo: and multiple versions of the same build could be hosted.. its a weird idea though.. it
removes some aspects of persistance
[2007/10/21 13:11] Fleep Tuque: Ooooh good point, AWM. For allt he folks in our apartment towers.
[2007/10/21 13:11] Unmitigated Gall: ecxactly Fleep
[2007/10/21 13:11] AWM Mars: Malls that do not parcel.. or give media controls, now vendors can have their own
media advertising..

[2007/10/21 13:11] Geuis Dassin: would be cool if they would stack sims vertically
[2007/10/21 13:11] Fleep Tuque: hehe
[2007/10/21 13:12] AWM Mars: <coughs>,, they will be :¬)
[2007/10/21 13:12] Leslee McCarey: LOL Geuis – who gets stuck in the basement?!
[2007/10/21 13:12] Geuis Dassin: might be able to develop true virtual cities
[2007/10/21 13:12] Fleep Tuque: Been a lot of discussions about that on the sl-dev list
[2007/10/21 13:12] Geuis Dassin: hehe
[2007/10/21 13:12] AWM Mars: Think of education for a moment
[2007/10/21 13:12] Fleep Tuque perks up.
[2007/10/21 13:12] Dizzy Banjo: yeah lets wrench this back to media streaming
[2007/10/21 13:12] Dizzy Banjo: lol
[2007/10/21 13:12] AWM Mars: none of the students need to attend a sim classroom, they can dial into the lesson.
[2007/10/21 13:13] Fleep Tuque: (Great idea, but would frustrate all of our traffic tracking monitors to gauge
attendance)
[2007/10/21 13:13] Leslee McCarey: monkey rwrench or crescent, Dizzy? ;-)
[2007/10/21 13:13] Dizzy Banjo: primate leslee
[2007/10/21 13:13] Geuis Dassin: so, someone just needs to buy a tiny little plot on each sim and stick one of these
there, for the entire sim?
[2007/10/21 13:13] AWM Mars: coporates can use secure media pipelines for confernecing and passing media in a
totally secure environment connected to their own intranets
[2007/10/21 13:13] Geuis Dassin: so anyone can then use it? what about sim crossings
[2007/10/21 13:14] Unmitigated Gall: Fleep. I can tell you who started what movie
[2007/10/21 13:14] Movies1963 Beck: I’ve got in the making a saltwater croc refuge here in SL that’ll emulate a RL
refuge here in south florida, this HUD would be cool for visiters so that they could look at theSL refuge and see in
realtime live video from the RL refuge
[2007/10/21 13:14] Geuis Dassin: does this bypass the default behavior for the client to change to whatever media
stream is set on the new parcel?
[2007/10/21 13:15] No Freenote: i thought there were going to be snacks
[2007/10/21 13:15] Fleep Tuque: I have to run soon, where can we get a copy of the antennae and hud to test with?
[2007/10/21 13:15] AWM Mars: we are working with developers of OI’s.. to use the Silver Stream for walking
tutorials.. makes the LL hud look like flat 2d bad rezzing pics..
[2007/10/21 13:15] Fable Sinatra: I have to run, thanks for the invite Dizzy )
[2007/10/21 13:15] AWM Mars: oh.. it is LOLO..
[2007/10/21 13:15] Fleep Tuque: Is this available for use or purchase yet, Unmitigated?
[2007/10/21 13:15] Kentar Vendetta: gotta go myself, keep up the good work. SL needs more innovation
[2007/10/21 13:15] Fable Sinatra waves at Rich and Spence
[2007/10/21 13:15] Lillie Yifu: Another point, if people want this interface integrated and not on a HUD it could be
rolled into the N version of the browser
[2007/10/21 13:15] Navillus Batra: You have to be careful about storing user info Unmitigated. We md5 all
avatar_keys, and do not keep user names. European laws are very strick on that. So we can tell you aggerate data
counts, but not pull individual info out.
[2007/10/21 13:15] Dizzy Banjo: cya fable
[2007/10/21 13:15] Spence Wilder: I wonder if there are other core technologies, Adobe Connect for example, that
provide more e-learning capabilities than QuickTime
[2007/10/21 13:15] Rich Desoto: bye lovely!
[2007/10/21 13:16] Markup Melnik: what is the delay between RL and SL?
[2007/10/21 13:16] AWM Mars: Data Protection Act 1984, will get you 10 years if you store names etc on ppls..
[2007/10/21 13:16] Malburns Writer: connect is excellent
[2007/10/21 13:16] Fleep Tuque: Connect is terrific, good point Spence.
[2007/10/21 13:17] Spence Wilder: (byeee Fabs hun)
[2007/10/21 13:17] Dizzy Banjo: hi kenny didnt see you there.. nice to see you
[2007/10/21 13:17] Fleep Tuque: Hi Kenny!
[2007/10/21 13:17] Spence Wilder: I’m an olllllllld Apple guy from way back… but I dunno about reliance on QT
[2007/10/21 13:17] Kenny Hubble: hi dizz glad to catch you all still chatting
[2007/10/21 13:17] Kenny Hubble: hi fleep
[2007/10/21 13:18] Spence Wilder: with FLV having sort of eclipsed it online
[2007/10/21 13:18] Dizzy Banjo: yeh.. we have come to the eye of the storm atm
[2007/10/21 13:18] Dizzy Banjo: lol
[2007/10/21 13:18] Fleep Tuque: hehehe
[2007/10/21 13:18] AWM Mars: For SL to become the 3d internet of the future, and not become the grandfather
noted in history, they have to expland the media connections within this platform
[2007/10/21 13:18] Dizzy Banjo: things have calmed down a bit
[2007/10/21 13:18] Leslee McCarey: LOL
[2007/10/21 13:18] Fleep Tuque: It was a bit freewheelin there for a bit. :)
[2007/10/21 13:18] Leslee McCarey: amen AWM!
[2007/10/21 13:19] AWM Mars: Media will bring in the real finances.. advertising
[2007/10/21 13:19] Dizzy Banjo: try “wearing” that Kenny
[2007/10/21 13:19] No Freenote: did somebody say cheeze wiz?
[2007/10/21 13:19] Kenny Hubble accepted your inventory offer.
[2007/10/21 13:19] Da5id Zsigmond: Yeah Mars – I started investigating SL thinking of a 3d web interface.
[2007/10/21 13:19] Lillie Yifu: Well yes the present media model is terrible.
[2007/10/21 13:19] Fleep Tuque: Stop making me hungry, No. :)
[2007/10/21 13:19] Leslee McCarey: media + sim capacity in avies
[2007/10/21 13:19] Fleep Tuque: I can certainly see many educational uses for this kind of tech.
[2007/10/21 13:20] AWM Mars: Sim capacity is LL limited by their own business model.. once open source comes
out, it will increase dramicatically
[2007/10/21 13:20] Lillie Yifu: I have a technical question. What happens if there are several antennas in range of
each other, each pointed at different servers.
[2007/10/21 13:20] AWM Mars: typos… sl thang
[2007/10/21 13:20] Lillie Yifu: How doe sthat get handled?
[2007/10/21 13:20] Fleep Tuque: Good question Lillie
[2007/10/21 13:20] Dizzy Banjo: thats a good question Lillie
[2007/10/21 13:20] Malburns Writer: this new sheep viewer has a built in html browser – that may open up a lot of
things
[2007/10/21 13:20] Rich Desoto: yeh
[2007/10/21 13:20] Dizzy Banjo: and i plan to do it :D
[2007/10/21 13:20] Spence Wilder: user experience is a factor too.. . in terms of av #s
[2007/10/21 13:20] Markup Melnik: How about 3 streams into one HUD?
[2007/10/21 13:20] Markup Melnik: Possible?
[2007/10/21 13:20] JenzZa Misfit: wow
[2007/10/21 13:21] Fleep Tuque: My understanding Mal is that it’s a very limited browser, QT media only, not flash
[2007/10/21 13:21] Malburns Writer: for present
[2007/10/21 13:21] Markup Melnik: k…thinking teachers having multiple sources….
[2007/10/21 13:21] Geuis Dassin: no matter the method, I believe its still 1 stream per client
[2007/10/21 13:21] Dizzy Banjo: QT itself can only play one media file at a time.. as far as i know
[2007/10/21 13:21] Fleep Tuque: Course I’m dying to see the darn thing, and it looks like they want to expand that
capability.
[2007/10/21 13:21] AWM Mars: QT pluggin will alow up to 6 simultanoius strems into your client
[2007/10/21 13:21] AWM Mars: streams*
[2007/10/21 13:21] Malburns Writer: but forsee running connect conf inside SL from it in future
[2007/10/21 13:21] Dizzy Banjo: and there is only one instance of of QT in the client ?
[2007/10/21 13:21] Navillus Batra: Yes Markup, we have shown multiple streams to the same avatar at one time ….
very laggy. :)
[2007/10/21 13:21] Rich Desoto: why would you want to do that, tho?
[2007/10/21 13:22] JenzZa Misfit: oh you have , Navillus ? cool
[2007/10/21 13:22] JenzZa Misfit: example :::: a multi stage music festival
[2007/10/21 13:22] Dizzy Banjo: you could use it to create multitracked soundtracks for one
[2007/10/21 13:22] No Freenote: would be good for spying
[2007/10/21 13:22] Fleep Tuque: Think three way (or more) video conference
[2007/10/21 13:22] Markup Melnik: just curious…educational stuff
[2007/10/21 13:22] AWM Mars: its system relevant.. how many Graphic pipelines are used to render those streams
and the use of codex causing CPU time to decompress
[2007/10/21 13:22] Navillus Batra: We have used it to do mashups, one video, an image or two … different sources,
same time.
[2007/10/21 13:22] Malburns Writer: you create a partition for each stage i would thinhk
[2007/10/21 13:22] Rich Desoto: But you have to be able to disseminate the info into intelligible end points
[2007/10/21 13:23] Fleep Tuque: Dizzy, wouldn’t net latency complicate that, timing wise?
[2007/10/21 13:23] Dizzy Banjo: id suspect so
[2007/10/21 13:23] Dizzy Banjo: lol
[2007/10/21 13:23] JenzZa Misfit: but 1 avatar could only do actual realtime cam view on 1 stage / could be seeing
the other 2 or 3 in the HUD * im thinking big here !*
[2007/10/21 13:23] AWM Mars: Forget Parcels.. lol.. they have been irrelevant in sl since the first Proximity System
was launched back in March
[2007/10/21 13:23] Leslee McCarey: latency is god’s way of keeping everything from happening at once <g>
[2007/10/21 13:23] JenzZa Misfit: like they did for the Green Concert in RL
[2007/10/21 13:23] Connecting to in-world Voice Chat…
[2007/10/21 13:23] Rich Desoto: If we could do that without latency you coud see more players together in real
time… too many issues
[2007/10/21 13:23] Connected
[2007/10/21 13:23] Fleep Tuque: laugh Leslee!
[2007/10/21 13:23] Unmitigated Gall: also, arent you guys at silverstream offering mashups of different streams into
a signle stream? I thought i read that?
[2007/10/21 13:24] Mint Powers: latent LOL to leslee!
[2007/10/21 13:24] AWM Mars: that is a function, but given current PC systems, its not ideal..
[2007/10/21 13:24] Unmitigated Gall: so it would be a comibend picture also?
[2007/10/21 13:24] Unmitigated Gall: hmm
[2007/10/21 13:24] Navillus Batra: Yes, the split stream is how we get the mashup to work. It is a qt formatting
technique with smiley files.
[2007/10/21 13:24] No Freenote: god just slapped leslie but she won’t feel it for a week.
[2007/10/21 13:24] Malburns Writer: 4 vHUDs each with a different camer a angle – lol
[2007/10/21 13:24] Unmitigated Gall: interesting

———————————–SIM CRASH———————————-

[2007/10/21 13:32] Dizzy Banjo: ok let me regather everyone
[2007/10/21 13:32] Dizzy Banjo: lol
[2007/10/21 13:32] Dizzy Banjo: hi slim
[2007/10/21 13:32] Dizzy Banjo: we just went down
[2007/10/21 13:32] Dizzy Banjo: just getting every one back
[2007/10/21 13:35] Dizzy Banjo: sorry for this folks
[2007/10/21 13:35] Dizzy Banjo: back on track in a sec

[2007/10/21 13:44] Dizzy Banjo: pretty fool proof really
[2007/10/21 13:44] Unmitigated Gall: hehe
[2007/10/21 13:44] Slim Warrior surreptitiously throws her cake at Unmitigated

[2007/10/21 13:44] Sloan Skjellerup: you’ll be getting my cleaning bill
[2007/10/21 13:45] Slim Warrior: Im getting cosy with Tascha here
[2007/10/21 13:45] Geuis Dassin: so UG, is this using something new that came out in 1.8.x? or has it been around for a while?
[2007/10/21 13:45] Malburns Writer: me please

[2007/10/21 13:46] Unmitigated Gall: the beta will work with with the beta media
[2007/10/21 13:46] Sloan Skjellerup: got it, thank you
[2007/10/21 13:46] Markup Melnik: OK, now that I have all these video experts here I’d like to ask a question…If I want streaming video from 2 sources (realtime mashup) with 2 webcams on the same computer what is the best way to go? I teach anatomy and would like to do supplemental lectures this way.
[2007/10/21 13:47] Geuis Dassin: there’s a video service
[2007/10/21 13:47] Geuis Dassin: called videora I think
[2007/10/21 13:47] Unmitigated Gall: Markup.. I am starting next week on just such a technology, but I think Silver Stream has that capability now
[2007/10/21 13:47] Leslee McCarey: right, Geuis – streams QT
[2007/10/21 13:47] Sca Shilova: thanks dizzy
[2007/10/21 13:48] Markup Melnik: Or, if in SL, just 2 video streams into SL and me standing up front…
[2007/10/21 13:48] Jane Reinard: yes, thank you O.o
[2007/10/21 13:48] Leslee McCarey: but don’t know about 2 feeds….
[2007/10/21 13:48] No Freenote: you could straddle two sims
[2007/10/21 13:48] Malburns Writer: It’s “Veodia” – i use – but only single stream – not multiple contril room
[2007/10/21 13:48] Unmitigated Gall: Sloan, did you get a test device?
[2007/10/21 13:48] Geuis Dassin: kk
[2007/10/21 13:48] Dizzy Banjo: anyway this antena needs to be put on the land by the landowner
[2007/10/21 13:48] No Freenote: the students could run back and forth really fast
[2007/10/21 13:48] Dizzy Banjo: or deeded to group owned land
[2007/10/21 13:48] Dizzy Banjo: lol hi 57
[2007/10/21 13:49] Markup Melnik: could I mash them together into one before they stream?
[2007/10/21 13:49] Leslee McCarey: LOL NF
[2007/10/21 13:49] Dizzy Banjo: we crashed the sim
[2007/10/21 13:49] 57 Miles: holy shit
[2007/10/21 13:49] Dizzy Banjo: lol
[2007/10/21 13:49] Malburns Writer: wb 57u
[2007/10/21 13:49] 57 Miles: are you guys mental? this meet started 3hrs ago! :)
[2007/10/21 13:49] Unmitigated Gall: yes Markup, dont know how yet, but silverstream does it now
[2007/10/21 13:49] Sloan Skjellerup: That’s how ya know ya did it right …lol
[2007/10/21 13:49] Leslee McCarey: wb 57
[2007/10/21 13:49] Dizzy Banjo: lol
[2007/10/21 13:49] Lillie Yifu: This is a big topic 57
[2007/10/21 13:49] Slim Warrior: heya 57 .. hugs long time
[2007/10/21 13:49] Malburns Writer: yes – supposed to be at bloggers meet too
[2007/10/21 13:49] 57 Miles: hey slim!
[2007/10/21 13:49] Leslee McCarey: only 2 57 – but who’s counting?!
[2007/10/21 13:49] 57 Miles: hi everyone
[2007/10/21 13:49] Dizzy Banjo: yeh i think we are probably rounding up now
[2007/10/21 13:50] Dizzy Banjo: but it was interesting
[2007/10/21 13:50] Dizzy Banjo: quite a wild discussion.. lol
[2007/10/21 13:50] Markup Melnik: amazing topic guys
[2007/10/21 13:50] Unmitigated Gall: hehe,, ya dizzy, you get a log?
[2007/10/21 13:50] Dizzy Banjo: anyway thanks for coming over the people who popped over after teh crash
[2007/10/21 13:50] Dizzy Banjo: yeah
[2007/10/21 13:51] Markup Melnik: didn’t want to miss this!
[2007/10/21 13:51] Dizzy Banjo: im pretty excited about all this stuff becoming available.. maybe we can focus more on some of the other technologies next time..
[2007/10/21 13:51] Markup Melnik: (could get a publication out of it!)
[2007/10/21 13:51] Dizzy Banjo: and also think about more use cases ..
[2007/10/21 13:51] Dizzy Banjo: considering the various things we have discussed as possibilities
[2007/10/21 13:51] Markup Melnik: How often do you meet?
[2007/10/21 13:51] Lillie Yifu: The one I am thinking is building objects with an antenna that points at a particular server
[2007/10/21 13:51] Lillie Yifu: people could look at the streams available locally and play any of them
[2007/10/21 13:51] Dizzy Banjo: then try to feed that into the discussion on the wiki about media on a parcel etc
[2007/10/21 13:52] Dizzy Banjo: and the music dev list
[2007/10/21 13:52] Lillie Yifu: no more uploading of music snippets
[2007/10/21 13:52] Dizzy Banjo: and working group etc
[2007/10/21 13:52] Dizzy Banjo: we meet every week
[2007/10/21 13:52] Dizzy Banjo: im trying to make it on saturdays
[2007/10/21 13:52] Tao Takashi is wondering what the web media project will make possible in the future :)
[2007/10/21 13:52] Dizzy Banjo: yeah totally Tao
[2007/10/21 13:52] Dizzy Banjo: very exciting times
[2007/10/21 13:52] Malburns Writer: is wondering that too Tao
[2007/10/21 13:52] Leslee McCarey: it would be cool to be able to use this device to stream to a prim…. for ambient localized sound
[2007/10/21 13:52] Dizzy Banjo: especially with combining that.. and the new grid arch
[2007/10/21 13:52] Markup Melnik: Is the meeting invite only?
[2007/10/21 13:52] Dizzy Banjo: no
[2007/10/21 13:53] Dizzy Banjo: its open
[2007/10/21 13:53] Geuis Dassin: you still have to play the sound in the client
[2007/10/21 13:53] Tao Takashi: well, I doubt that the new grid architecture will change that much regarding these features
[2007/10/21 13:53] Unmitigated Gall: alright,, who is throwing toilet papaer at me
[2007/10/21 13:53] Dizzy Banjo: yeh this isnt spatial leslee..
[2007/10/21 13:53] Tao Takashi: it’s mostly a client side feature
[2007/10/21 13:53] Markup Melnik: Ya know…break up a movie stream into the 7.1 doby surround sound and put each part to a speaker….
[2007/10/21 13:53] Malburns Writer: yes Leslee – streaming ambient sounds would be VERY useful
[2007/10/21 13:53] Markup Melnik: surround sound in SL :p
[2007/10/21 13:53] Geuis Dassin: so you’d not get ambient sounds like the crickets here
[2007/10/21 13:53] Dizzy Banjo: hopefully soon Nathan from Cruxy will be presenting some of their new technology to us
[2007/10/21 13:53] Leslee McCarey: LOL UG
[2007/10/21 13:53] Dizzy Banjo: he has some very interesting systems coming up
[2007/10/21 13:54] No Freenote: i need surround ears first.
[2007/10/21 13:54] Slim Warrior looks innocent, I only had cake
[2007/10/21 13:54] Dizzy Banjo: which involve in world spatial audio
[2007/10/21 13:54] Markup Melnik: can they streeam surround sound yet?!
[2007/10/21 13:54] Dizzy Banjo: yes we shoudl get Mewsic Bing over too and look at his surround system
[2007/10/21 13:54] Dizzy Banjo: although that isnt streamed
[2007/10/21 13:55] Dizzy Banjo: i think a whole session on Cruxy would be good
[2007/10/21 13:55] Dizzy Banjo: as they have lots of interesting ideas
[2007/10/21 13:55] Unmitigated Gall: yes
[2007/10/21 13:55] 57 Miles: id like to learn more about cruxy. count my vote
[2007/10/21 13:55] Dizzy Banjo: but all this stuff.. is changing and developing all the time..
[2007/10/21 13:55] Leslee McCarey: good idea, Dizzy – sooner rather than later on a cruxy session
[2007/10/21 13:56] Dizzy Banjo: i wanted to jump straight to the SLiPod and media streaming .. mainly because its been discussed alot this week.. and also its a good time to feed use cases into the wiki..
[2007/10/21 13:56] Tao Takashi: actually I am esp. looking forward to 2 things: Flash on a parcel and local streams for your HUD
[2007/10/21 13:56] Tao Takashi: for making a real ipod like thing
[2007/10/21 13:56] Lillie Yifu: Flash would be big
[2007/10/21 13:56] Leslee McCarey: Tao – FYI, you can run Flash 5 now
[2007/10/21 13:56] Tao Takashi: and Flash would make live streaming so much easier combined with ustream.tv
[2007/10/21 13:56] Malburns Writer: i started running flash 5 in quicktime yesterday – worked a treat
[2007/10/21 13:57] Unmitigated Gall: was it two way malburns
[2007/10/21 13:57] Dizzy Banjo: yeh flash would be amazing in terms of enabling a much simpler navigation of SL.. could transform the way people first experience the environement
[2007/10/21 13:57] Malburns Writer: have to set user qt client to read flash – thats all
[2007/10/21 13:57] Malburns Writer: links dont work – only autoplay at present
[2007/10/21 13:57] No Freenote: save me from my notecard and landmark collection
[2007/10/21 13:58] Unmitigated Gall: hmm.. so requires adjustment by end user?
[2007/10/21 13:58] Dizzy Banjo: lol no
[2007/10/21 13:58] Malburns Writer: qucicktime does nott playback flash by default – user has to set on system
[2007/10/21 13:58] Leslee McCarey: UG – I’d suspect only if they need a newer QT version
[2007/10/21 13:58] Dizzy Banjo: will be interesting to see how content developers.. like sheep might capitalize on this stuff.. create a super slick SL experience.. mega rich
[2007/10/21 13:59] Leslee McCarey: ahh – yes, could b e Mal..
[2007/10/21 13:59] Tao Takashi: well, if Flash still needs QT it sort of is problematic as QT is the problem I think ;-)
[2007/10/21 13:59] 57 Miles: dizzy is there a page on your blog with info on this group?
[2007/10/21 13:59] Markup Melnik: What’s weird is that we’re talking streaming video…yet we don’t use voice here
[2007/10/21 13:59] Lillie Yifu: I’m more interested in how we could capitlaize on this
[2007/10/21 13:59] Dizzy Banjo: yeh there was a post a while ago
[2007/10/21 13:59] Dizzy Banjo: but i should do a page really
[2007/10/21 13:59] 57 Miles: that’s not odd markup, that’s smart
[2007/10/21 14:00] 57 Miles: all you get from very big voice meets is nobody saying anything, or everyone talking at once
[2007/10/21 14:00] Leslee McCarey: Dizzy – yes, with a link to the discussion board
[2007/10/21 14:00] Markup Melnik: ah…

[2007/10/21 14:00] Unmitigated Gall: hehe
[2007/10/21 14:00] Dizzy Banjo: and they want to read it
[2007/10/21 14:00] Lillie Yifu: I truned off voice when it seemed clear aht half the people who used voice wer ejust breathing heavily into the microphone
[2007/10/21 14:01] Leslee McCarey: LOL Lillie
