I had a chat with Miulew Takahe today about the Avatar Orchestra Metaverse and the really interesting stuff they are up to. I went over to the brilliant Clangers sim, where they were pulling off one of the most bizarre concerts I have ever seen – physical or virtual! The compositions are definitely avant garde in nature as are the visuals !

They create their sounds using HUD instruments which they trigger animations and sounds from, all very ingenious use of uploaded sound. Here is a great video from their myspace page, which shows the process of controlling their instruments :
